Welcome to my homepage, great to have you here!
Since you’re here, let me tell you a little about myself. My name is Jasper van Dijk and I was born 22 years ago in Groningen, a University town in the Netherlands. I’m just one course removed from finishing my Bachelor’s degree in Physics at the University of Groningen. Coming year I will attend the University College London for a Master’s degree in Economics, so I am currently looking for housing. In my spare time I enjoy cooking and playing the guitar and piano.
I started studying Physics because I like the mathematical analysis, but I also did a minor in Psychology because I’m fascinated by the human decision making process. This combination led to the pre-master course in Econometrics I’m currently taking and the Master I will do next year.
After my studies I would like to pursue a PhD in Econometrics. I’m still contemplating whether I will start as a PhD directly after my Master’s or I will first work for a few years. My ideal job would allow me to pursue a PhD in part-time and allow me to integrate my job in my research.
My broad interest is not only reflected by the different areas of study I chose as an undergrad, but also by all the activities I participated in and organized during my studies. As I was just sixteen years old when I started college I also had the opportunity to take two sabbatical years and still graduate at age 22. In these two years I made a full-time contribution to the University community as a student representative.
